The government has allocated Rs 130 million for organizing the games in the Far Western Region, and National Sports Council has decided to organize the tournament in the month of Falgun of the Nepali calendar.
The jumbo team inspected local Khulamanch, covered hall and grounds at the Zonal Police Office, Siddhanath Campus and Siddhanath Science Campus in Mahendranagar on Sunday.
NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama said stadiums can´t be built overnight. “We should be realistic and work from right today to make the event a grand success,” he said. Lama said that NSC will form a secretariat as soon as possible.
Though the inspection team led by Minister Gharti is the sixth such team to visit Far West, the task of infrastructure development has not shown any significant improvement. Locals say they are irritated by having to brief about the situation time and again.
“Officials of the ministry and NSC come to inspect our cities time and again but works are yet to start. The expenses of such visits should have been utilized in the real works,” said Rajiv Gupta, former president of Kailali District Sports Development Committee.
The 21-member inspection team, led by minister Gharti will visit Tikapur of Kailali and Dadeldhura on Monday.
