“The secretaries have assured all kind of help for taking action against Ghimire and have directed us to file a case according to the prevailing laws,” Sharma said. Sugam Gas has been accused of tampering with over 15,000 cylinders of other gas companies.
The office two days ago instructed Ghimire to present himself at the office within 15 days.
Sunsari District Administration Office has already instructed all concerned authorities to initiate necessary action against the company. Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya has instructed Eastern Regional Office of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology, Sundari district office of Cottage and Small Industries, and Nepal Oil Corporation, among others, to try Ghimire in the court of law.
As per Consumers Rights Protection Act-1998, Ghimire may face up to 15-year jail term or a fine of up to Rs 500,000, or both.
