According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Minister Khadka conveyed a message of gratitude to the Bhutanese prime minister on behalf of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala for responding quickly after the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25.Khadka also expressed appreciation for Bhutan's gesture of friendship and cordiality in times of need, demonstrated amply by the personal visit of Prime Minister of Bhutan to Nepal to express sympathy and solidarity of Bhutanese government and its people to the people and government of Nepal during those trying times. He also thanked for Bhutan's participation in the International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction last June end in Kathmandu.
Minister Khadka also held a separate meeting with Lyonpo Namgay Dorji, the Bhutanese finance minister, on July 28 at the latter's office in Thimphu.
Minister Khadka led the Nepali delegation to participate in the Fourth Meeting of the SAARC Ministers on Poverty Alleviation in Thimphu that was held on July 29.
At the meeting, he gave a detailed overview of the ongoing programs to alleviate poverty in Nepal and expressed total commitment of Nepalese government to the regional process in the SAARC for poverty alleviation initiatives.
