Minister Bhatta blames petro shortage on dealers

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has accused gas dealers of creating an artificial shortage of fuels in the market for making extra bucks.



Speaking at an interaction at the Reporters Club in the capital on Thursday, Minister Bhatta claimed that despite an adequate supply of fuels from the Nepal Oil Corporation, the dealers have been hiding petroleum products for extra profits.



"I am aware of the fact that petrol pump owners and gas dealers are involved in the act," Minister Bhatta said adding the government would take stern action against those found guilty.



He also said the government would carry out rigorous inspection and monitoring on gas dealers and petrol pumps to ensure smooth of petroleum products in the days to come.
