According to the agreement, the club will be named Mega Three Star and the bank´s logo will appear on the jerseys and kits for a year. “The bank will contribute Rs 1.76 million for the annual agreement in return,” said Arun Man Joshi, general secretary of the club.
This is the highest sponsorship deal signed by any club in the history of Nepali football. Earlier, Yeti Airlines and Himalayan Sherpa Club had signed a deal of Rs 1.5 million per year.
Meanwhile, Three Star will receive Rs 9,20,000 per year from Western Union Money Transfer as the latter will remain as co-sponsor of the club.
Three Star had formally ended their six-year long sponsorship contract with Nabil Bank on March 11. Three Star and Nabil had started the sponsorship deal in 2005 when Shah was the CEO of Nabil Bank.
Three Star and Mega Bank have in principal agreed to work together for a period of more than five years despite signing a one year contract for now.
“The bank has shown interest to invest more than Rs 10 million in the course of five years in the club, assist it in producing and marketing club memorabilia as well as look into financing the construction of the clubs´ property in Patan,” said Three Star President Lalit Krishna Shrestha.

Shah expressed his delights on signing the agreement. “We agreed to support Three Star as we recognize the hard work put in by the teams players and management. More importantly, the support the team gets from its fans is encouraging,” said Shah.
“We should start building a club house in Patan this year and it will provide us a regular income source,” added Shah.
All Nepal Football Association President Ganesh Thapa said that the Three Star Club is the important club in Nepali football since many other clubs aspire to be like Three Star.
Meanwhile, former Chief Secretary of Nepal Government Tirtha Man Shakya and Member of Constituent Assembly Raj Kaji Shakya wished success for the club. “It already has national reputation. I wish the Mega-Three Star tie-up to bring more success for the club and create international stature for the team,” said Tirtha Man Shakya.
