JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 29: Peace and Reconstruction Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Tuesday ruled out the prospect of timely elections due to the opposition’s ‘irresponsibility’.

Speaking at a Reporters Club Nepal program in Janakpur, Rayamajhi claimed that despite the government having called elections to Constituent Assembly by mid May, the possibility is very slim as the opposition, he said, are against it. [break]

“Now there is a doubt whether the elections will be held,” the minister said, adding that fresh CA polls should take place at any cost to complete the remaining tasks of constitution writing.

He also reiterated that his party is committed to holding CA elections and said a new constitution embracing federalism should be promulgated from the CA itself.
