He said communist parties and Nepali Congress (NC), among other parties, can forge an alliance for institutionalizing the achievements and writing a new constitution. [break]
"We [the political parties] have different policies and goals. But we can and should stand united at least on a common agenda of institutionalizing the republic that is an achievement of a decades-long struggle of the parties," Singh said at an interaction with some journalists on Saturday.
Likewise, he said non-Maoist parties should deal the present political crisis cautiously as the UCPN (Maoist) leaders were not sincere about writing the new constitution.
Terming the Maoist leaders as careerists, Singh, who once worked together with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai, said the Maoists were hell bent on attaining the power, not on writing the constitution.
A semi-underground leader, Singh, said there was a need of forming an alliance against federalism. Though his party CPN (Masal) is an underground communist party, National People´s Front (NPF), which has five members in the Constituent Assembly (CA), works as per his party policy in the open politics. The NPF headed by CA member Chitra Bahadur KC is the first party that stood against federalism from the very beginning.
The NPF is holding a National Convention Against Federalism as a common platform for all anti-federalists irrespective of their other political inclination soon.
"In the beginning, our party was the only force to protest federalism. Now, people from all sections of the society and other political parties have realized it. Therefore, we have decided to form a loose forum for those who can stand united for the common agenda -- anti-federalism," Singh explained the party´s future strategy.
On the present political deadlock, he suggested to resolve the crisis as per the present constitution. He said everywhere there should be a rule of the game. "Constitution is the only rule that we are bound to follow. Even the dispute on the move of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav should be resolved as per the constitution," he added.
