The standing committee meeting of UCPN (Maoist) also postponed its plenum for July 16-20. [break]Earlier, the party had decided to hold the plenum from June 29 to July 1.
"We will start talks with Kiranji [CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya] in a day or two," said Sherchan, expressing hopes that the negotiations with the newly-formed party would be fruitful.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal after the party´s standing committee meeting, Dahal has termed the newly-formed party a group of ´petty bourgeois anarchists´. It is the first official reaction of the UCPN (Maoist) after the split of the party. Dahal also claimed that Baidya´s move would only help a counter revolution.
Refuting allegations leveled by the CPN-Maoist against him, Dahal also said that the formation of the new party by the Baidya faction has negated all the achievements of the people´s war.
"It is ridiculous that the newly-formed party aims to launch people´s war and people´s revolt criticizing the former decisions taken by the party," read Dahal´s statement. The newly-formed party has adopted people´s revolt as its political line.
