“It is a campaign to safeguard national sovereignty and throw our weight behind the demand for people´s democracy,” said Maoist leader Kul Prasad KC.
The leaders have already begun training young party cadres for the purpose.
The organization includes Ramdeep Acharya, Shakti Basnet, Lekhnath Nyaupane, Yubaraj Chaulagain and Raju Karki. “We´ll mobilize thousands of youths,” said Acharya, a member of the organization.
The Maoist party central committee meeting in January decided to form such a youth organization under Chand´s leadership.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, General-Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa and Chand trained the youths of ´Tamsaling´ and ´Newa´ in Kirtipur, last Thursday.
During the training, Dahal stated that youths should unite to complete the goals of ´revolution´. The party has stated that the leaders would complete training the youths by March 15.
The senior leaders are doing homework to find fields where the youths can be mobilized.
“We are working on a work-plan. The structure of the organization should be made public this week,” said Acharya.
The structure of the organization would be in the form of a pyramid from Kathmandu to villages in all the districts.
It will be different from the party´s existing wings like the YCL, workers´ union and students union.
“It will work for people´s service and sensitize them politically,” politburo member Kul Prasad KC said, “They will be vigilant against all types of criminal activity. They will work against robbery, murder, corruption and blackmarkets.”
According to KC, its main role will be to stop youths deviating from the ´normal´ path. “We´ll organize programs and take suggestions from people,” he said.
In the production sector, the youths will be deployed at financial corporations and in social service.
Under the construction sector, the youths would repair roads, bridges and other physical structures destroyed during the insurgency.
Tansen palace, Mangalsen palace and many historic places were destroyed during the insurgency. Similarly, thousands of houses were detroyed in Khara of Rukum district and Thabang of Rolpa. “We will prioritize construction work,” said a Maoist leader.
The youths will provide security to party leaders wherever they are under threat. “Armed groups in Tarai districts have still not stopped their violence. We will provide security to party cadres there,” Acharya said.
