The notice has been issued by UCPN-Maoist ´secretary´ Kishore in the official latter pad of the party.
The Maoists are also charging timber farmers Rs 10 per cubic feet of timber. Police have remained a mute spectator to the donation drive.
Arun Parasad Singh, coordinator of a local committee, has issued a press statement asking the Maoists to stop the extortion which is taking place even as the Maoists are yet to return properties seized during the conflict.
Singh has termed the donation drive a “terror”.
Kabir, a local Maoist leader, claimed the donation drive is meant to make successful the ongoing Maoist movement that aims at writing a new “people´s constitution”, establishing civilian supremacy, protecting national independence and to taking the peace process to a conclusion.
Maoist district in-charge Himal acknowledged the donation drive but said no one is being forced to contribute. He also denied allegations that his party continues to control land seized during the conflict.
