Around 300 Maoists identifying themselves as landless squatters had arrived there holding black flags. Yam Bahadur BK, Ram Bahadur BK, Jay Singh Nepali and Shiva Raj Upadhyaya had led the attack. The same group had earlier attacked UML district member Mahadev Bajgain.
Last month, at least five people, including forest encroachers and police personnel, were killed in a clash at Dudejhari area in Kailali. Sporadic incidents of violence have been taking place in the district since.
