RUKUM, July 26: The All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) affiliated to the ruling UCPN (Moaist) has vandalized Musikot Multiple Campus at district headquarters of Rukum on Thursday following disputes with CPN-UML´s All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU).

ANNISU-R students vandalized the administration section and smashed furniture, telephone set and glass panes of the office of the campus chief after an ANNFSU unit was formed at the campus amid police security. [break]

Police had chased away ANNISU-R students after they obstructed the closed session of ANNFSU at the campus. The Maoist students reached the district administration office after vandalizing the campus and chanted slogans demanding action against the campus administration, police and ANNFSU students.

The rival student unions were in dispute for the past two days about the formation of ANNFSU unit at the campus.

The ANNISU-R students, who had won the last Free Students´ Union (FSU) elections at the campus, were insisting that ANNFSU and other student unions should seek permission from the FSU to form their units. But ANNISU-R claimed that it had simply opposed formation of a unit consisting people from outside the campus.

The college administration stated that this is the first instance of vandalism in the college´s 31 years history.
