GORKHA, March 7: Politburo member of UCPN (Maoist) Dev Gurung said an agreement has been forged to give the Home Ministry portfolio to his party.

He said this at a press meet organised by Revolutionary Journalist Association, Gorkha, Monday on his way to train party cadres in the district, Tanahun and Lamjung. [break]

The Maoist party has been displaying maximum flexibility for peace and constitution, he said. Preparation to give the Cabinet full shape by mid-March is underway, but it may take time to induct state ministers, he said.

The seven-point agreement, he said, is for peace and constitution and the Maoist party will work living up the pact. It was also signed to guarantee the rights of sovereign people and national integrity, he said.

On a query whether or not the new constitution will be promulgated by May 28, he said since parties are one on constitution drafting there remains no possibility of not promulgating the statute.

"If the constitution is not drafted, the people have the right to revolt as per the international rule," he said.
