Maoist lawmaker rushed to hospital from parliament

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: A UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker suddenly fell ill at the Legislature-Parliament building in New Baneshwor on Monday and has been rushed to Norvic Hospital, Thapathali.



Keber Oli, all of a sudden, vomited blood and has subsequently been taken to the hospital, informed Sudarshan Kuinkel, assistant spokesperson at the parliament secretariat informed. [break]



Oli is said to have a serious medical condition. He was elected to the Constituent Assembly under proportional electoral system from the Maoist party.



In the past, the Maoist lawmaker already had two operations for ulcer.



Meanwhile, the House meeting has got under way, almost an hour behind schedule.



The meeting earlier scheduled for 1 pm was delayed due to the political committee meeting of Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic, which still under way at the party´s central office in Sanepa.



The meeting is set to decide if the party should recall Defense Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari from the government amid intense pressure from opposition parties that he should be sacked for his recent statement that 22 districts in the Terai were free to break away and form a separate state.
