“Maoist health worker removed other bullets immediately after the attack, but a bullet still remains lodged in my thigh causing excruciating pain,” said she.
After the UCPN (Maoist) joined peaceful politics, Adhikari visited Bir Hospital but could not afford to get the bullet removed from her thigh. “Doctors have advised me to get the bullet removed immediately but I don´t have the money,” she added.
Adhikari is heartbroken as her party has turned a blind eye to her suffering. “I did not receive any support from the party even as I wasted my most productive and valuable years for the party,” she said.
Adhikari´s husband Tenjing Thapa also sustained injured fighting for the UCPN (Maoist) during the insurgency. He was taken to India for treatment.
“I and my husband risked our life for the party. But the party has turned a blind eye to our suffering,” said Adhikari.
