The other participant of the event Deepak Maharjan will take on Prabin Kumar of India on Wednesday in men´s 81 kg (light heavy) weight category.
Maharjan was the only player to win medal for Nepal in the 16th Asian Games. He had won bronze medal in Guangzhou on 2010.
Deep Jyoti lifts volleyball title
Deep Jyoti A lifted the boys´ volleyball title under 18th Eicher Gyan Carnival being held at the host Gyanodaya Bal Batika Higher seconday School´s court, Sanepa. Deepjyoti beat Pushpa Sadan 25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-13 in the competitive final.
Indira Yakthumba, the founder president of Gyanodaya distributed prizes to winner. Altogether eight teams had participated in volleyball. Earlier, Neric and Mahendra Bhawan had won girls´ and boys´ basketball under the Carnival.
NIMS, Daffodil, APF win titles
NIMS and Daffodil won the senior and junior boys´ basketball titles respectively while APF School took home junior boys´ Five-A-Side football title on Tuesday in the First The Excelsior Cup being held in the capital.
NIMS saw off TIA 49-33 in senior boys´ basketball riding on 20 points of Sandesh Tamang who was declared the most valuable player.
Daffodil registered a hard fought 26-20 win over Wilson in junior boys´ basketball. Saroj Sapkota contributed 12 points for Daffodil. Ibson Karki of Daffodil was declared the most valuable player.
In football´s final, APF edged past Chandbagh 1-0. Prajwal Bista adjudged the best player scored the all important goal for Daffodil.
Mulpani, Dachhi in semis
Mulpani and Dachhi have fixed their place in the semifinals of the Jay Nepal Cup football tournament on Tuesday.
Anil Thapa scored the lone goal to guide Mulpani to a 1-0 win over Kathmandu Ward No 35. In another quarterfinal match, Dachhi A beat Dachhi B 3-0. Gem Lama, Bharat Thapa and Tanka Magar scored for the winning team.
