Make 'substantive' progress in peace process before May 28: Prez to PM

KATHMANDU, May 12: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has asked Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal to make substative progress in the peace proces before the expiry the current term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) to pave the way for political consensus for extension of the CA´s term.



President´s Press Advisor Rajendra Dahal said, "The president emphasized that there should be substative progress in the peace process in the remaining days of the CA." [break]



The prime minister had called on the president Friday upon the former´s arrival from Istanbul. The prime minsiter informed the president that the government has brought a bill to amend the constitution to extend the term of the CA for one more year, according to Surya Thapa, the prime minister´s press advisor.



In the meantime, Thapa said the government is making preparation to float a plan within a few days to complete the peace process.
