The disciplinary committee of ANFA, citing Madhyapur´s unsporting behavior following its 1-0 defeat against Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club in the A division league on Wednesday, has also decided to bar the club from any football activities until the registration process for B division league begins next year (2070 BS). [break]Madhyapur had lost its top flight status after the defeat against Himalayan Sherpa.
The meeting of ANFA disciplinary committee held under the coordination of its vice-president Mahesh Bista on Monday took the decision to this effect. Despite ANFA´s decision to bar the club from any football activities for a year, there is no event in B division until the end of this season in the ANFA calendar.
According to a press statement issued by ANFA, the ban will be effective from Monday. Besides Singha, other officials to be banned for a year are team manager Manoj Adhikari, team leader Asta Kumar Kawe, physiotherapist Binod Shrestha, officials Sunil Shrestha and Tuyu Kaji Sinkeman and assistant coach Arjun Prasad Shrestha.
According to ANFA, the club and officials could face other punishments if they didn´t abide by the disciplinary committee´s decisions.
During its last match of the league on Wednesday, officials and supporters of Madhyapur, including Singh, also a former captain of the Nepali national team and former national assistant coach, had tried to manhandle the match referee and occupied the playground for over half an hour. Later, police deployed at the stadium had to intervene to take the situation under control.
Following the defeat to Himalayan Sherpa, the Bhaktapur-based side was relegated to second division in its very first season in top tier football. Madhyapur could have avoided relegation with a draw or victory in the match.
Meanwhile, Madhyapur President Singh was not available for comment regarding the ban.
