Madhesi leaders express sorrow over Koirala's demise

RAUTAHAT, Feb 9: Appreciating his role in fostering democracy in the country, top Madhesi leaders expressed grief at the demise of former prime minister and NC President Sushil Koirala.

Sadbhawana Party Chairperson Rajendra Mahato, who is also a leader of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), reached the Sanepa-based office of the Nepali Congress to express his condolence.


He wrote in the condolence book that the country has lost a democratic leader and guardian of Nepali politics.

Another UDMF leader Ramnaresh Ray Yadav, who is also vice-chairperson of Tarai-Madhes Sadhbhawana Party (TMSP), also expressed deep sympathy at Koirala's demise.

Yadav is also a member of the UDMF talks team.

Another UDMF talks team member, Hridayesh Tripathi, along with leaders and chairperson of Tarai Madhes Democratic Madhesi Party (TMDP) reached to the NC's party office to express condolences.

“We're shocked to hear the news of Koirala's death. The country has lost an efficient politician,” he said. Another local Madhesi leader Rameshwar Yadav of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) said, "Koirala devoted his life for democracy altruistically."
