NEPALGUNJ, Jan 25: Nepalgunj and its surrounding began stinking after the garbage disposal was halted due to local bodies´ regular strike.

The employees started their second phase of protest five days ago alleging the government did not pay heed to their demands including their permanency and various other rights. [break]

Following the local bodies´ strike, service seekers failed to get various important services including recommendation letters essential for drawing out passports, citizenship certificates, marriage certificates and birth and death registration.

After the service recipients failed to get recommendation letters, services in Revenue, Land Reform and District Administration Offices in the district were affected, too.

Earlier, the government had formed a 10-member committee under the coordination of Local Development Secretary Krishna Gyawali to address the demands of the agitating employees. Though the committee submitted its report in the slated time, their demands, however, have not been fulfilled yet.
