The ministry issued the order in the wake of media reports and complaints that people belonging to political parties or different organizations have been extorting money from ordinary public, bureaucrats, teachers, industrialists, business entrepreneurs lately. [break]
Issuing a press statement on Friday, the ministry said its attention has been drawn to the frequent news reports about incidents of extortions in the name of various political parties and social organizations.
Home Ministry Spokesperson Shankar Koirala asked all ordinary public as well as business entrepreneurs to immediately inform concerned Chief District Officer (CDO) or the nearest police units if anybody tries to extort them.
“We have directed local administration and police to fully contain the tendency of those taking donations through coercive means including threats, undue pressure and take stern action against those involved in such activities,” he said.
