As per the new schedule there will be 46 hours of power cut per week. "Power cut will be for seven hours every day for four days and six hours for remaining three days in a week,” said Bhuwan Kumar Chhetri, Chief, System Operation Department, NEA.
The officials said India had reduced supply to Nepal by 35 Megawatts forcing NEA to increase the power cut hours. The other reason, NEA said, was that the water level in Kulekhani reservoir was lesser than anticipated due to lesser than normal rainfall. “Due to increasing demand we have no options but to increase the power cut hours,”Chhetri added.
