Lissanevitch continues his impressive run

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Ivanhoe Lissanevitch of The British School continued his impressive run in the Sixth LA/JTI Inter-school Junior Open Tennis Championship with a 8-1 win over Manjit Nyochhe of St Xavier´s in the U-18 boys´ singles at the Satdobato Tennis Complex, Lalitpur on Tuesday.



Lissanevitch had earlier defeated Kevin Gurung of Little Angels´ (LA) School 8-0 on the opening day to secure a semifinal berth in the U-16 boys´ singles as well.[break]



Sakshym Karki of Rato Bangala also advanced into the semifinals of U-16 boys´ singles with a 8-1 win over Kaustav Pandey of Ullen´s School. Yeoram Lee of KISC School and Akash Lamkhor of GEMS completed the semifinal line-up after the two received walkovers.



In the U-16 girls´ singles, Bijisha Shrestha of DAV saw off Shivalika Rana of The British School 8-1 while Bibhuti Karki of St Xavier´s beat Kripa Sharma of Pacific by the same scoreline to advance into the semifinals. Likewise, Pritika Manandhar of St Xavier´s outplayed Reina Shahi 8-0 to secure a place in the semifinals. Manjita Nyochhe of St Xavier´s also advanced into the semifinals with a 8-3 win over Geeta Shrestha of LA.



In the U-14 girls´ singles, Mahika Rana of Rupy´s International, Bijisha Shrestha of DAV, Anne Mathema of Ullen´s and Bibhuti Karki of St Xavier´s entered the last four winning their respective matches.



In the U-14 boys´ singles, Abhaya Gauchan (Rato Bangala), Sandesh Paudel (LA), Avash Malla (Rato Bangala) and Saksham Karki (Rato Bangala) made it to the semifinals.



In the matches held at the court of Little Angles´ School, Nabin Joshi (LA), Samrakshan Bhushan Bajracharya (Shuvatara), Deep Rana (LA) and Ayushman Nanju (LA) won their respective matches in the U-12 boys´ singles. In the girls´ section of the same age group, Anne Mathema (Ullen´s), Sangeeta Rana (Mahendra Adarsha), Mayanka Rana (Rupy´s) and Medhavi Giri (Ullen´s) won their respective matches.



Likewise, Samyak Bhushan Bajracharya (Shuvatara), Swaraj KC (LA), Nirajan Subedi (LA), Ajit Subedi (St Xavier´s) Kiran Rai (LA), Aryan Giri (Ullen´s) and Deep Rana (LA) emerged victorious in the U-10 boys´ singles.
