At a program organized by the society of the families of fighters made disappeared by the state in the capital on Saturday, they said agreement was made to address the demands of the families of disappeared people during the insurgency.[break]
Parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Paudel said preparation was afoot to bring a bill to address the demands of the people victimized by both State and rebel sides during the conflict. The culprits need to be punished and the victims catered justice, he added.
Similarly, Chairman of the CPN-UML Jhananath Khanal said political agreement was made in principle to gradually manage and transform conflict.
The crimes during the conflict should be exposed and the measures as of reconciliation and punishment be taken accordingly after peace process concludes.
Maoist Secretary and Energy Minister Post Bahadur Bogati said the issues of the families of disappeared and formation of the commission of truth and reconciliation would be addressed as per the seven point deal. The party was of the view that these issues should be taken ahead together with the army integration.
CA member Ramesh Lekhak said before forming the commission on disappearance, the facts about incidents violating human rights during insurgency should be identified.
Similarly, civil society member Dr Sundar Mani Dixit criticized the political leaders, saying no government of any party directed Nepal Army to disclose the names of those made disappeared by the State side during conflict.
Member of the National Human Rights Commission, Ram Nagina Singh stressed that the government needs to implement the reports and recommendation the NHRC furnished time and again about the conflict victims.
Senior journalist Dhruba Hari Adhikari said it was worrying that decisions on disappeared people were not implemented.
