Kyrgyz doc thrashed

BIRATNAGAR, April 19: A Kyrgyzstani doctor working at the surgery department of Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar and his wife were thrashed by their landlord on Monday.



Dr Sulaimankulov Ruslan and his pregnant wife Gulmira were thrashed by landlord Padam Sitaula´s son Navin and his associates. The duo is undergoing treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital and out of danger.



They had requested the landlord to chain their dog saying that their six-year-old son was frightened. The landlord asked the couple to vacate the apartment instead and eventually beat them up.



"We had already made arrangements to shift them to another place but the landlord insisted to get it evacuated today," acting director of Nobel Medical College Dr Rabindra Kumar Yadav said. "The assailants kicked her on the stomach despite knowing that she is a pregnant," Dr Yadav added.



Irate students of the medical college, on their part, thrashed Sitaula´s family in retaliation. Police have taken a few persons under control for investigation and held a meeting of both the parties to diffuse the tension.
