DHANKUTA, Feb 7: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala on Tuesday said there is no need for another deal on the peace process as the recent seven-point agreement with the Maoists has already paved the way for timely conclusion of the peace process and constitution writing.

Addressing a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union in Dhankuta, Koirala said there is no point in striking a new agreement with the Maoists as the latter has failed to implement past agreements. [break]

“The peace process has been stalled as the Maoists are divided over several issues of the peace process. The process will move forward once the Maoists resolve problem within their party,” he said.

Arguing that the current government has failed to deliver, Koirala stressed the need for a national consensus government. He said that since Maoists and CPN-UML each have already led the government twice since the CA polls, NC should get chance to lead the new government.

Koirala also felicitated senior NC leaders, who had taken part in the NC-led revolt against then Rana regime in 1950, in Dhankuta. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, Laxmi Shrestha, and Janak Sen Limbu were among those felicitated.
