KOICA aids capacity building for Nepali officials

KATHMANDU, March 3: Korean International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) is supporting the participation of 12 Nepali government officials in a Rural Development Program in South Korea in a bid to build their capabilities.[break]



Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, KOICA stated that officials from different ministries including the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction and the Ministry of Local Development are leaving for Korea to take part in the program which is going to be organized between March 5 and 20.



The program supported by KOICA is the third of its kind for Nepal.



“Its prime objective is to support capacity-building of government officials in the field of rural development through sharing Korea’s experience, knowledge and methodology,” the release said.



The program includes a series of lectures, group discussions and observation trips concerning the Korean model of rural development called the "New Community Movement” as well as income generation through rural tourism development, agriculture industry and agricultural marketing policy, among others.
