They said they decided to launch protest from Saturday demanding that the post mortem on the body should be carried out in the presence of the victim´s kin, evidence should be protected, anyone found guilty in the death should be punished and the victim´s kin should be properly compensated.[break]
Kumar´s brother Shankar Nepali said, “The body has sharp injuries to the chest, left eye and arms and the back has bruise marks, so we can say he was murdered.”
He said the death happened in police custody so the police should disclose the truth without delay. Nepali, who was serving his term in Rasuwa jail had been transferred to Dhulikhel jail four days before the death. The chief district officer of Rasuwa, Basudev Ghimire said Kumar was transferred in line with jail regulations as he was suffering from mental illness.
"There is enough ground for suspicion about the fatality as the authorities have been saying different things about the case. We will pursue the case till it is settled, Nirmala Pandey, one of kin present at TU Teaching Hospital, said.
Authorities should take responsibility for the incident soon as possible, Ekraj Lakandri, a human rights activist, said.
