Khadka maintains lead on Day II

KATHMANDU, May 10: Rabi Khadka maintained his overnight lead and topped the leaderboard after the second round of the Ghana´s Open golf tournament on Tuesday.

Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) pro Khadka carded three-under 69 during the second round of the tournament at the Army Officers´ Golf Club to take a three-stroke lead over clubmate Ramesh Adhikari.



Khadka now has a total of seven-under 137 while Adhikari has a total of four-under 140. Adhikari scored one-under 71 on Tuesday to add to his overnight score of three-under 69.[break]



Deepak Neupane, who scored two-under 70, is third with a total of two-under 142, while Dharan pro Mani Rai is fourth at one-under 143 after a second round score of one-over 73. Sanjay Lama and Toran Bikram Shahi share the fifth position with a total score of even-par 144.



Two-time defending champion Shiva Ram Shrestha climbed up to seventh position with a total of one-over 145 after a second round score of three-under 69, while Deepak Thapa Magar, who carded seven birdies in his second round score of one-under 71, is eighth at two-over 146. Yelamber Singh Adhikari (147) and Deepak Acharya (148) complete the top 10.



Other professional golfers who made it to the last two rounds were Surya Prasad Sharma, Ramesh Nagarkoti, Umesh Nagarkoti, Rajan Thapa, Ram Thapa, Dhruba KC, Rupak Acharya, Jaya Ram Shrestha, CB Bhandari, Ram Krishna Shrestha and Raj Pradhan.



Major NJ Rayamajhi is the only amateur golfer to make the cut and will lift the cup after the next two rounds. Rayamajhi scored six-over 78 on Tuesday to add to his overnight score of 75. At nine-over 153, he shares the overall 17th position with Rupak Acharya.



The top three pros of the second tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2011-12 will receive Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.
