The Special Court had acquitted Kansakar and other high officials, including Raju Bahadur KC, Ganesh Thakur, Gyanendra Purush Dhakal, Mayur Shumsher Rana and Keshav Raj Sharma in April after the national flag carrier recovered the lock-up money that it had forwarded to European aircraft manufacturer Airbus.[break]
As per the existing laws, NAC must pay salary and benefits to the six officials.
“All the employees have already received their salary, but we are yet to receive salary and benefits even though it has already been a month that we joined the office,” said deputy managing director Raju Bahadur KC. He further added that they were mulling over starting legal proceedings if the management did not release their salary.
Meanwhile, NAC managing director K B Limbu has sought clarification with NAC´s finance department for providing salary to the six officials during their suspension period. An NAC source told Republica that Limbu was preparing to take action against one of the officials of the department.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against the six officials in December, charging them of embezzling $750,000 by sending non-refundable money to Airbus and flouting the Public Procurement Act.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has instructed the board of NAC to allow Kansakar to attend NAC´s head office in the capacity of executive chairman.
Kansakar was signing attendance register at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation after Limbu locked up the former´s office amid long running dispute over executive power.
