He, however, said that an election government led by a sitting or former justice should be formed comprising members of the civil society and intellectuals in order to resolve the existing crisis facing the country.[break]

Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC expressed the confidence that the President would take a constitutional step in order to pull the country out of the current crisis.
He suggested to protect the achievements of the four years of work of the CA, and to go to the people with the remaining contentious issues.
The Nepali Congress is of the view that the recent decision of the Government to give lifelong perks and privileges to former justices, home ministers and prime ministers should be withdrawn.
CPN-UML Secretary Shanker Pokharel said the present government does not have the right to announce new date for elections and added that the deadlock could be resolved only through a government of consensus among the political parties.
He also called for scrapping of the decision to provide lifelong privileges to the former office-bearers.
Prime Minister´s political advisor Devendra Poudel said there was no alternative to elections in a democracy, and that the new date would be announced following a consensus among the political parties.
Defending the government´s decision to provide privileges to the former heads of governments and heads of state, Poudel said it was a normal practice in any country around the world, and since it was provided from the security point of view it should not be politicized.
