According to tournament coordinator Ajay Bista, the tournament will feature singles and doubles events for both boys and girls in six different age groups -- U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18.
"A player can participate in two events only. Players of U-8, U-10 and U-12 age groups can participate in two singles events while players of U-14, U-16 and U-18 age groups can participate in one singles event and one doubles event," said Bista. The winner, runner-up and semifinalists of each event will get cash prizes and gift hampers.
The association´s president Manoj Rana said that parents of the players would bear all the expenses of the tournament while the association will handle the technical side. "To develop any sport, it needs support from the parents of young players. The basic idea behind the tournament is to involve parents of young players in the development of tennis in Nepal," said Rana.
"Our association has been organizing four to five championships for juniors every year. The tournament organized under the initiative of parents would boost the morale of young players," added Bista.
