Sridevi, who used to stay with her elder sister´s family in Rehmatpura area, was a salesgirl at the cosmetics section of LifeStyle mall. Since last three years, she was in love with Vinod of Jagadgirigutta, police said. Vinod´s family migrated to the city from Bidar in Karnataka district.

Vinod used to work as a sales representative of a private bank, but was unemployed since the past few months.

At about 8.30 am, security personnel at the four-storied LifeStyle building heard a loud thud and noticed a young couple lying in a pool of blood in the open portion in the middle of the building.

With critical injuries, Vinod died on the spot and Sridevi was rushed to a nearby private hospital. As her condition was critical, she was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills where she succumbed to injuries a few hours later.

Police found a suicide note in Vinod´s trouser pocket. Also, a knife was found near his body.

According to Punjagutta inspector M Malla Reddy, the note, written in Hindi but in English script, read: "I am in love with Sridevi and wanted to marry her. We were in a relationship for the last three years, but since last three months she began avoiding me and was in love with Santosh. She rejected my marriage proposal too. I was upset. So, I decided to kill Sridevi and then commit suicide."

According to police, Sridevi left home at about 7 am by telling her family members that she had a meeting at her workplace.

"At the time of the incident, except security personnel, there were not many employees at the building. The security staff said the couple fell from the fourth floor balcony," the inspector added.
