Jhapa traffic police bans dissemination of information

KAKADVITTA, Jhapa, Aug 24: The District Traffic Police office, Jhapa, has banned on giving information about different accidents and incidents, which the Office used to provide earlier.



According to Chief at the Office, Nawaraj Khadka, no information about the incidents occurred in the district would be provided to anyone. [break]



He added that one has to contact the Regional Traffic Police Office, Itahari, for the information.Khadka further said that they would not provide information from there because of the orders from higher ups.



Federation of the Nepalis Journalists (FNJ) has protested the decision.



President of the Jhapa chapter of FNJ, Ganesh Pokhrel, said that there is no possibility of going to another district for information, so it should be given right from the office.



Chief at the Eastern Regional Traffic Police Office, DSP Prakash Lama, said that a system has been arranged to provide information about large scale incidents by the Regional Traffic Police Office.



Chief of the District Police Office, Tarini Prasad Lamsal, said that a system should be managed to provide information to the people and journalists in an easy manner.
