The locals shut the Janakpur Bazaar since early morning and staged protest demonstrations. They have accused three police personnel of raping an Indian woman.
The demonstrators said they were mercilessly thrashed by the police during the demonstration.
According to the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Dhanusha chapter vice president Umesh Shah, police on Sunday thrashed nearly a dozen media persons who reached the site to collect the news.
The protestors have demanded the resignation of the accused Superintendent of Police Shyam Khadka, Police Inspector Abhushan Timilsina and Police Sub- Inspector Babu Ram Jha from the posts.
The demonstrators also chanted slogans against the local administration.
