"Sources have revealed that Karmacharya was providing internet service to the Bangladeshi national despite knowing their involvement in the illegal activities," Acharya added.

However, Shirish Mathema, operation manager of Namche Network, said he was unaware of the reasons that led to Karmacharya´s arrest. “The allegations against him are yet to be proved and the investigation is on," Mathema said.

Police had arrested Bangladeshi national Ashrafuz Zaman, Moqtader Hossain and Nisar Ahammad two weeks ago for illegally blocking telecom service providers´ gateway inflicting a loss of millions rupees.

Persons intentionally causing adverse effect, damage, or any other loss to the telecommunications structure, may be fined an amount equal to the loss or damage or sentenced, as per the Telecommunication Act 1997.
