Into Srijana's gadget world

Srijana Jyoti’s job as the media coordinator of the Jyoti Group entitles her the luxury of going “gadget freak.” After all, they are the authorized dealer of Phillips. Yet, despite having the latest technology at her disposal, the busy mother of two clarifies her stand on the topic with a nonchalant answer: No![break]



“Necessity takes precedence over anything else. If I use a piece of electronics, it’s for the simplest reason – I need them,” smiles Jyoti, who adds her husband Saurabh Jyoti is the poster child for gadgetholics.



“When I need to upgrade or need help with decision-making while purchasing, I seek his advice. He’s my mentor in this area.”



From phones, laptops or even the ubiquitous USB drives, looks are important for Jyoti who reveals her decision swings in favor of products that marry style with functionality and reliability.



“It may just be a flash drive, but I love the Philips-Swarovski crystal USB drive that doubles as a pendant. I can just put it around my neck and not worry about losing it. It also adds a touch of bling and my data is safe.”



iPad 2 has caught the media coordinator’s fancy, and is on her top priority list. Talking of Apple products, Jyoti can’t stop raving about her iPhone 4.



“The device isn’t just for communication. I keep my kids occupied for hours with games and apps that I can easily download. It’s definitely one of the most abused pieces of gizmos I own.”



And to accompany her beloved iPhone, she has her Philips DC320 Speaker that charges the phone while she enjoys music.







The limited edition of red Acer Ferrari laptop won her approval instantly. Jyoti especially likes the design, the logo and red finish of the lappy that evokes the sleek and coveted Italian automobile.



Jyoti, whose work involves a lot of time in front of the monitor, prefers a big screen, like the Phillips flat TV pixel plus that she uses. The 26” LCD HDTV display is perfect for tinkering with Excel and doesn’t stress her eyes.



But the one piece of gadget she’s addicted to is her XBOX 360.



“It’s hands down one of the best gaming console and entertainment units. You can combine movies, pictures, music and games all in one unit,” shares Jyoti, who is totally gaga over Dance Central, and the immersive dance video game is a family favorite.



“I’d rather dance to the tunes of hip numbers than run on the treadmill (laughs). My whole family is involved in it, my kids love shaking to the beats, and it’s just so much fun. Working out was never this fun!”
