The objective of the festival is to make people aware of the crucial place of vulture in maintaining the ecosystem, said festival main preparations committee coordinator, Yadav Khanal.

The organizers expect some 2,000 people will observe the event.

Pictures of several species of vulture found in Nepal have been put on a display in the festival. They were taken and collected by Photo Journalist (associated with Annapurna Post, a national daily), Krishnamani Baral.

It is learnt that out of nine species of vulture found in the South Asia, eight are found in Nepal.

The first international vulture festival was organised at Basa of Tilakpur in the district last year.
