Int'l media mission visits Janakpur

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: A team of the international media mission has set out to Janakpur to collect information surrounding the murder of journalist Uma Singh.



The mission will hold discussions with local journalists, including civil society members in Janakpur, regarding Singh’s murder, according to Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) secretary Ramji Dahal, who is accompanying the team.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, the two-member international mission team urged speaker Subas Nemwang to guarantee the freedom of press in the upcoming constitution. The team expressed serious concern about the growing culture of impunity and deteriorating law and order situation in the country.


“The team expressed serious concern on growing challenges to journalists in Nepal,” said Dahal.
