"We have requested international airlines operating in Nepal to help us for few days at this time of crisis by carrying the fuel while coming here," said Pradeep Kumar Yadav, aviation fuel in-charge of NOC.
NOC said that they have given priority to domestic airlines that depend solely on NOC. "We have enough stock for domestic airlines for a month," said Yadav adding that for international airlines we can supply for three to four days only if the supply situation does not normalize.
Bharat Kumar Shrestha, president of Airlines Operators' Committee- Nepal (AOC-N) said that it is difficult mainly for the airlines operating long-haul flights and the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) carriers to operate flights to Nepal if the fuel supply is not made smooth.
"As it is peak season and all the GCC carriers have full occupancy, it is almost impossible for us to bring the return fuel," said Shrestha adding that they require at least 10 to 15 tons daily.
