SURKHET, March 19: A 10-month-old boy whom his mother named Albert wishing that he would grow up to become a great person like Albert Einstein was the only passenger who survived, without suffering a scratch, during Thursday´s disastrous accident in Dailekh that claimed 32 lives.

The boy´s mother, Laxmi Sejuwal, 22, was among the casualties. [break]

It is a mystery how the boy survived the accident unscathed. Though all other passengers of the bus fell into the river along with the bus, the boy was found on the riverbanks. Dilli Prasad Jaishi, a local of Pipalbot-4, Dailekh, who reached the site immediately after the accident, found the boy playing with pebbles.

“Had there been sand on the river bank, we would have assumed that the mother threw the boy out of the window. But instead of sand, there are rocks on the river bank,” said Tularaj Kathayat of Kalikot. “It is surprising how the boy survived even after falling on rocks.”

Kathayat took the boy to Surkhet for medical check-up fearing that the boy might have suffered internal injuries. But doctors said he was perfectly normal.

Laxmi´s body was taken out of the bus six hours after the accident. Albert´s father Amar is Assistant Health Worker at a health post in Jajarkot.
