Singh, who is also the vice-chair of Rastriya Janta Dal (RJD), said that the Madhesis in Nepal are treated as second class citizens. The new constitution has also treated them as second class citizens, according to him.
When asked why should he interfere in the issue of Madhes as it is Nepal's internal affair, RJD leader Singh argued that their 2.4 million sons and daughters got married to the people of Madhes.
“When there is bloodshed in Madhes, our hearts break down because of family ties,” he said, adding that the emotional bond with Madhes is not just the only factor but there are multifaceted relations.
“We cannot overlook the ongoing Madhes movement like the government of India did. Delhi and Kathmandu have air-link. But we and Madhes are linked with our lands. Therefore, we cannot ignore the issue,” he further said.
“We haven't interfered in any way. We are supporting the fight against injustice. We'll continue to extend our support until Madhesis are granted with their rights,” Singh said.
