Talking to media persons before leaving for New Delhi on Wednesday, Mishra said India is ready to send experts if Nepal government makes a request to this effect. He said rehabilitation of displaced earthquake victims in Gujrat, where 40,000 people were killed, was accomplished in three to five years.
Mishra arrived in Kathmandu as a special envoy to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to learn about the needs of Nepal government in the aftermath of second massive earthquake on May 12. Mishra headed the Earthquake Management Authority created by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi to deal with the issues of reconstruction and rehabilitation in the post-quake situation.Mishra had conveyed Indian Prime Minister Modi's desire to extend all necessary help to Nepal during his meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday. Speaking to journalists at TIA, Mishra said India is ready to provide corrugated sheets to Nepal to help earthquake victims build their home before the start of rainy season.
Mishra had held a meeting with various government officials including National Planning Commission officials, Finance Minister and other ministry officials to learn about the need of Nepal. He had also visited Dolakha where Indian Army personnel along with Nepal Army men are working to help earthquake victims.
