India donates ambulances, buses

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The Government of India on Monday gifted 20 ambulances and four buses to various hospitals, non-profitable organizations and educational institutions from 17 districts in Nepal.



Charge d´affaires Shri Jaideep Mazumdar presented 15 ambulances and three buses to the recipient organizations amid a function organized at India embassy premises to mark the 65th Independence Day of India. [break]



The remaining five ambulances and one bus were gifted by Consul General of India at Birgunj, Shri Ashutosh Agrawal, to organizations coming under the consular jurisdiction of Consulate General of India, Birgunj.



During the function, charge d´affaires also presented books to 50 educational and training institutions from various regions of Nepal, including some remote districts.



Since 1994, the government of India has gifted gifted 322 ambulances to various organizations across 70 districts and so far gifted 62 buses various educational and welfare institutions across 24 districts in Nepal.



Mazumdar hoisted the national flag and read out the Address of the President of India, delivered on August 14 that stressed among other things India´s unwavering adherence to democratic principles, poverty eradication, economic stability and food security.
