Indefinite lock-out at CTEVT

BHAKTAPUR, Aug 5: At least 10 students were injured when police baton charged on the agitating students at the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) here Friday.



Police resorted to baton charge on the members of the students unions when the latter resorted to locking the CTEVT office. [break]



A scuffle between police and students ensued after the ANNISU (R) attempted to lock out the main gate of CTEVT in protest against the CTEVT authorities ignoring their 9-point demands.



In the incident, students also pelted stones at the police personnel in response to action launched by police. Windowpanes of the CTEVT’s main building were also smashed due to the brickbats.



Among the students injured in the clash were ANNISU (R) central member and Chairperson of CTEVT Students Committee Madan Khadka, central secretary Bachchan Singh, central members, Ghanashyam Pandey, Deepak Bista, Basanta Poudel, Deepak Gautam, Jagat Pariyar, Tanka Bahadur Giri, Jeevan Budhathoki and Santosh Khadka, the ANNISU stated.



The injured were treated in Nagarik hospital, Gaththaghar, said ANNISU central member Santosh Khadka.



However, police claimed merely a minor dispute took place between the police and students and no students were wounded in the incident.
