Prayag Koirala, a seventeen-year-old student at Chelsea International Academy thinks the same. "I think there is a lack of dating space in Kathmandu because of which young people have to go to places like Bouddha, Swayambhu and other public places. It is odd for both the couples and the public. The only other places where couples can be together alone are places like Nagarkot but it´s expensive."
Godavari, Tribhuvan Park, Chobhar are evergreen dating places. However, it is time-consuming to get there. Nikesh Thapa, 22, says, "I often go to Godavari where I get to spend some quality time with my partner. However, because it is so far, we cannot go there every day. So we go there once a month."
Many couples are forced to find their perfect dating spot in restaurants at Durbar Marg, Thamel, and New Road. "Even though I am single now, my favorite places to go dating are restaurants at Basantapur," says Nipun Agrawal, a resident of Thamel.
However, going every day to these restaurants can be an expensive investment. "I believe having tea at road side stalls, or having a long stroll together at Patan and Kathmandu Durbar Square is equally satisfying and enjoyable as having an expensive lunch together at any restaurants at Durbar Marg," says Chetan Lama, 22, a student at Orbit International College.
However, couples displaying their affection publicly may not be pleasing for both the couples and others. Nipun says, "I preferred restaurants over public places because I did not want strange faces staring at my girlfriend and peeking into her clothes."

Parvinder Raina, 19, a student at Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Science finds humor in these practices. "I find it funny when people have left with no better options and they end up in temples and museums for a date. I guess more parks should be made in the capital for the love birds," he says.
Prashiddha Bikram Shah, a 22-year-old student at Universal College, however, thinks there is no scarcity of dating places in the capital. There are many places such as Garden of Dreams, the durbar squares Bhrikuti mandap, zoo, and cinema halls where people can go dating. The only thing is that they must stay within their limits."
Even though Prashiddha seems content, the majority are still in search for an ideal place with privacy to get to know their partners well, and just to date. Until new parks are made or new places found, couples will have to be satisfied with whatever is currently available - restaurants, parks, temples, trees and corners.
