The prime minister said the opposition parties themselves have failed to forge consensus and are blaming him for their failure. He termed the opposition parties attacks against him as an attempt to frighten an elephant by blowing on trumpets.[break]
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Upper Madi Hydropower Project in Sildujure, Kaski on Friday, the prime minister said he would not shirk his responsibility of concluding the peace and constitution drafting process despite protests and criticism by the opposition parties.

"There is nothing further from the truth than to portray me as the obstacle to consensus. All I want is peace, development, constitution and prosperity [in the country] and I am ready to make any sacrifice toward realizing these," he said.
While stating that the parties lately have not reached any agreement to end the impasse, he refuted media reports that said he is the cause of the situation of no agreement among parties. He said he will hold fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) polls if there was no agreement among parties.
On the occasion, the prime minister also reiterated that he would resign on the very day the parties reach an agreement. "The parties have spread rumor that I am hindrance to consensus. I won´t run away from the responsibilities just because some people criticize me. Your blowing up trumpets doesn´t frighten an elephant," he said.
He also asked people not to be frustrated as transition period is usually ´painful´ in all countries.
