IFC keen to invest in hydropower, banking, tourism

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: International Finance Corporation (IFC) Executive Vice President and CEO Lars Thunell called on Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and reiterated IFC’s commitment toward increasing investments in Nepal, particularly in infrastructure, and support private sector development.



IFC the private sector lending arm of the World Bank (WB) Group affirmed its commitment to continue support on Nepal’s development agenda and expand its contributions to Nepal’s sustainable growth by working together with both government and private sector, reads a press statement issued by IFC. [break]



“IFC sees great potential in Nepal. We believe that the country can grow rapidly in the near future,” explained Thunell after his meeting with the Prime Minister, the statement adds.



Earlier, Thunell held a meeting with finance minister Barsha Man Pun at the latter´s office in Singha Durbar on Monday.
