The Executive Producers are two-time Oscar winner, Emma Thompson, (Sense and Sensibility,) and Simone Sheffield and Valerie Hoffman (Precious).

Since the story is of a young Nepali girl who is sold to brothel in India, the movie also has an Indian production partner consisting of ‘Sikhya Entertainment.’ The founder, of which is Anurag Kashyap, a screenwriter of twenty films, including Academy Award nominated Water.

Lakshmi-Nepali, age range 12-16 (should look 12), strong character, happy, smart, determined, able to play scared, sad, angry.
Shahanna- Nepali, 15/18yrs old.
She is a young girl at the brothel who is at first wary of Lakshmi and later pledges her friendship and support to her.
Ama- Lakshmi’s mother, 35-45yrs, hard working, weathered face, loving, submissive.
Stepfather Anil- 35-45yrs, tired and frustrated- withered arm.

Harish- Nepali 8-10 year old boy. Sprightly, resourceful, kind, generous, helpful, playful and protective.
Pushpa- Mother of Harish and Jeena, 30’s, Nepali but looks older, gaunt and ill.
Young Krishna- 15-16 yrs old Nepali, strong and sweet, handsome.
Bajai Sita- Nepali woman that runs the store, 40- 50yrs Hard, strong, peasant, businesswoman.
Bajai Sita’s Husband- Nepali 40-50yrs Also hard and strong, peasant, crude in ways of this thoughts.
Gita’s Father- Nepali, 50yrs, a good man. a struggling farmer who has sent away his daughter to the city.
Jeena 3-5yrs, Nepali, Harish’s sister, flies a kite, gets mad, happy, sad.
