KATHMANDU, April 4: The High Level Political Committee (HLPC) Thursday morning met at its secretariat in New Baneshwor and decided to call the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi People’s Rights Forum Nepal for talks to settle their differences with regard to the current election government and upcoming elections.

Emerging from the meeting, Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel said the HLPC has called the protesting two parties for talks for 9 am Thursday, adding that the panel will hold parley with Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi at 5 pm over the controversial ordinance forwarded by Election Commission to pave way for new elections. The meeting this evening will also discuss whether to continue with the vice-chairman and members of National Planning Commission (NPC). Normally, officials at NPC are changed with change in government. However, the incumbent officials still continue to hold their positions as the current government has been formed extraordinarily without any political representation in the cabinet.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi is holding talks with 33 small political parties at the NPC office premises beginning 11 am to discuss contentious issues surrounding new elections and the provisions in the ordinance forwarded by EC, which the fringe parties including the CPN-Maoist have opposed, Paudel informed.
